Duchess
Duchess and her cocker buddy, Duke, lived alone in a shed for
over 3 years with no vet or grooming care and almost no human
companionship. When we rescued them in May 2007, they were in
deplorable condition--filthy, covered with ticks and could
barely stand due to the tangle of fur and mats all over their
body. But despite this misery, those dogs never lost their
friendly temperments and their stumpy tails have wagged non-stop
ever since. For several months, we thought they needed to be
placed together, however, as they received lots of human
attention, it became apparent that they were no longer as
dependent upon each other and in November, Duke was placed in
his new home. Duchess is hoping that she, too, can find a
forever home. Her foster Mom describes her as sweet and cuddly
and totally housebroken. She is 9 years old and in excellent
health. Despite the three years of complete neglect, our vet
says that her eyes, ears, teeth and skin are healthy and her
complete blood profile was "perfect". The three years of
isolation with only Duke for companionship have left her weary
of other dogs, especially at feeding time. This beautiful,
solid black girl desperately wants to be the only dog with
people of her very own who want a
happy cocker who just loves to cuddle.
